Robotics, Drones & Mobile Power
Robotics, Drones & Mobile Power
From industrial robots on the factory floor and autonomous mobile robots in warehouses to large drones and mobile power units, hydrogen fuel cells are steadily finding their way into mobile equipment. e-Vehicle’s low-power MEMS hydrogen sensing technology keeps every unit aware of hydrogen conditions in real time, even on the move.
When equipment moves, hydrogen monitoring has to move with it
Runtime is productivity
For mobile equipment running on batteries or fuel cells, every bit of power affects operating time, so onboard sensors must use as little power as possible.
Limited space and weight
Robots and drones have little room and payload to spare, so every component needs to be smaller and lighter to fit into existing designs.
Leak risk on the move
Equipment carrying hydrogen tanks operates under movement and vibration, often in enclosed spaces such as warehouses, so leaks must be detected on the equipment itself in real time.
MEMS hydrogen sensing, built for mobile equipment
An ultra-low power design reduces the sensor’s draw on the system, helping extend the continuous operating time of drones and AMRs.
A wide operating voltage range adapts to different equipment power architectures, so integration doesn’t require reworking the power design.
Signal-processing circuitry and thermal-conductivity gas sensing are integrated on a single chip, giving a small footprint suited to designs where space and weight are limited.
Covers the range from trace leaks up to the lower explosive limit (4 vol%) and stays within its initial tolerance after extended use, reducing the maintenance burden across an entire fleet.
Catch hydrogen early, wherever it may appear
Around the fuel cell module
Near the fuel cell stack and power module inside the equipment, to monitor for leaks during operation.
Hydrogen tanks, valves, and fittings
Around tanks, pressure regulators, and line fittings, where leaks are more likely to occur.
High points inside the enclosure
Hydrogen is lighter than air and gathers toward the top of the enclosure, so sensing points are best placed high.
Refueling areas and warehouse spaces
Where equipment is refueled, swapped, or parked together, and spots such as warehouse ceilings where hydrogen tends to accumulate.
Actual monitoring locations and quantities should be planned according to equipment design, site conditions, and local regulations. e-Vehicle can help you work through the configuration.
