AI Data Centers & Infrastructure
AI computing is driving a rapid rise in power demand, and hydrogen fuel cells are emerging as one of the options for primary and backup power in data centers. With MEMS hydrogen sensing technology, e-Vehicle helps critical facilities keep track of hydrogen conditions through round-the-clock operation.
Facilities that never stop need hydrogen monitoring that never stops
Adopting hydrogen power
When hydrogen fuel cells serve as primary or backup power, hydrogen storage equipment, supply lines, and the area around the fuel cells all need continuous leak monitoring.
Hydrogen buildup in battery rooms
Lead-acid batteries commonly used in uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems can release hydrogen while charging. Without adequate ventilation, hydrogen gradually builds up in the battery room.
Enclosed spaces, gathering at height
Server rooms are relatively enclosed, and because hydrogen is lighter than air, it tends to gather near ceilings and above racks, where it must be detected as soon as concentrations begin to rise.
MEMS hydrogen sensing, built for data center needs
Covers the full span from trace leaks up to the lower explosive limit (4 vol%), so operations teams can see what is happening as soon as concentrations start to rise.
The two sensing principles complement each other to improve long-term stability, keeping the product within its initial tolerance even after extended use.
Data centers typically need sensing points in many locations. Stable long-term performance helps reduce the burden of periodic calibration and maintenance.
Low power consumption and a wide operating voltage range make it straightforward to integrate into existing power and monitoring systems.
Wherever hydrogen may appear, it should be seen
Battery rooms and UPS areas
At high points near the ceiling and close to exhaust vents, to catch hydrogen released during charging.
Fuel cell power equipment
Above fuel cell stacks and equipment enclosures, to monitor for leaks during operation.
Hydrogen storage and supply lines
Around valves, fittings, and pressure regulators, where leaks are more likely to occur.
Server rooms and rack areas
Above racks and along air-conditioning return paths, to detect hydrogen spreading into the server room early.
Actual monitoring locations and quantities should be planned according to site conditions and local regulations. e-Vehicle can help you work through the configuration.
